On the Sidelines

Camas football tradition continues

In pursuit of its seventh straight league football championship, Camas silenced rival Union 49-13 Friday at McKenzie Stadium.

Quarterback Jack Colletto connected with Ryan Rushall four times on the game’s opening drive, including a 17-yard leaping snag by Rushall in the corner of the end zone for a touchdown. Cooper McNatt hauled in a 40-yard touchdown pass by Colletto.

Linebacker Michael Matthews sacked the opposing quarterback three times on defense. He also ran for two touchdowns on offense.

David Aarhus, Colletto and McNatt recovered fumbles by the Titans. Colletto cashed in two of those extra possessions for touchdowns. Will Schultz carried in the other touchdown.

Since a non-league loss to Skyview Sept. 23, 2011, the Papermakers have won 50 regular season games in a row. Camas has also clinched a league title every year since 2010.

The football tradition lives on. Now it’s time for the playoffs.

See you on the sidelines.
